Lumbini Chief Minister KC accused of kidnapping election candidate

RUPANDEHI: Lumbini Chief Minister Kul Prasad KC has been accused of kidnapping an election candidate.

KC has been accused of kidnapping Tanka Bista who had filed an independent candidacy from Dang-1 for the election to the Province Assembly by abandoning the CPN (Maoist Centre).

According to Tanka’s daughter-in-law Gauri Bista, Rapti Rural Municipality Chairman Prakash Bista had come to the house saying that Chief Minister KC had called him.

“We have no contact with him and don’t know anything about him since then,” she said.

Bista filed his independent candidacy after he did not get a ticket from the party to contest the upcoming election.

A family source said that the party had piled tremendous pressure on him to withdraw the candidacy.

Bista’s family members have said that he may have been kidnapped after he expressed his reluctance to withdraw the nomination.
