5 members of a family among 8 killed in Salyan jeep accident

RUPANDEHI: Eight persons including five members of a single family died in a jeep accident at Mulpani in Kapurkot Rural Municipality-3, Salyan on Wednesday.

The jeep (Ra 1 Ja 563) was heading towards Rim of Kapurkot Rural Municipality from Dhakeri, Kohalpur, Banke when the tragedy occurred at around 3: 30 am today.

According to Santosh Khanal, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Salyan, the deceased have been identified as jeep driver Jeet Bahadur Bohara (21), Dharma Oli (37), Top Bahadur Oli (40), his son Basanta Oli (11), Suresh Khatri (30), Khumlal Oli (70), Kumari Oli (55), Lalit Oli (35)  of Jalbang, Kapurkot Rural Municipality-6.

Tilak Oli (35), who was seriously injured in the incident, is receiving treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Tulsipur, police said.

The incident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle and fell some 150 metres down the road.

Khumlal, his wife Kumari, brothers Dharma and Lalit and his son Basanta were the members of the same family.

All the bodies have been sent to the District Hospital for postmortem.
