Nepal exports electricity worth Rs 2.42 billion to India

KATHMANDU: Nepal exported electricity worth around Rs 2.42 billion to India in the second month (August) of the current fiscal year 2079-80 (2022-2023).

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) earned more than Rs 2.41 billion by exporting surplus power of more than 246 million units of electricity to India.

The NEA had started selling surplus energy to the southern neighbor’s power exchange market from June 2.

The sole power utility body in the country had sold 39 MW of electricity to the Indian Energy Exchange on a daily basis in the beginning.

After that, the NEA started selling 364 MW of electricity in the Indian market at competitive rates from June 10 daily.
