Chinese Speaker Li pays courtesy call on PM Deuba

KATHMANDU: Standing Committee Chairman of the National People’s Congress of China and Chinese Speaker Li Zhanshu paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday.

During the meeting held at Singha Durbar this evening, PM Deuba told leader Li that Nepal is committed to the One-China policy saying that its foreign policy is based on the principles of Panchsheel or the five principles of Peaceful Coexistence.

Deuba asserted that Nepal and China have a multifaceted relationship. He also praised China’s long-standing cooperation in the socio-economic sector of Nepal.

Furthermore, he assured the visiting Chinese leader that Nepal will not allow any anti-China activities in its land.

Expressing his happiness over the signing of a six-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Speaker Sapkota on Monday, Deuba said that the MoU on inter-parliamentary Cooperation would further strengthen ties between the two countries.
