RPP Chairman Lingden to resign as lawmaker

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Rajendra Lingden has decided to resign as a Member of Parliament.

Lingden said that he decided to resign as the lawmaker as conspiracies are being made to extend the tenure of the Parliament and take salaries even after the elections’ date has been announced.

Talking to NepalPress over phone, the RPP chairman said that he would resign after speaking in the Parliament today and would not take part in the meeting from now onwards.

“The election government should be formed after announcing the elections’ date. There is no guarantee that this government will hold the elections in a fair manner,” he said, adding, “It is a shameless thing that the leaders are extending the tenure of the Parliament by amending the law. I cannot stop this alone. That is why, I decided to resign.”

The government has endorsed the bill to extend the tenure of Parliament till mid-February.
