Nepal’s import exceeds Rs 1.9 trillion in one year, trade deficit crosses Rs 1.7 trillion

KATHMANDU : Nepal has imported goods and services worth more than Rs 1.9 trillion in the last fiscal year 2021/2022.

According to the statistics released by the Department of Customs, goods and services worth only Rs 2 trillion was imported in this time period.

The country’s import has increased by 24.72 percent comparing to the previous fiscal year.

However, exports are very low compared to the imports. The country’s trade deficit is increasing year by year.

The foreign trade deficit has crossed Rs 1.7 trillion in the last fiscal year, according to the department.

Nepal imported goods from 164 countries in the last fiscal year.
