5 ANNISU-R cadres arrested for trying to prevent Governor Adhikari from entering office (With photos)
KATHMANDU: Police have arrested cadres of All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R), a student wing of the ruling CPN (Maoist Centre), who had gone to picket Nepal Rastra Bank demanding resignation of Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari.
Police said that they have rounded up five cadres from the gate of Rastra Bank.
Police arrested them while they were trying to stop Governor Adhikari from entering the office.
The cadres of Nepal Student Union and ANNISU-R, student wings of the ruling Nepali Congress and the Maoist Centre, had reached Baluwatar this morning to picket Nepal Rastra Bank.
A large number of security personal has been deputed outside the Rastra Bank.
The student unions intensified the protest saying that an independent person with no political involvement can only be the governor.
The NSU cadres had staged a demonstration at Maitighar on Friday to pile pressure on the government and a team of Maoist Centre affiliated Young Communist League (YCL) handed over a memorandum to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday to take the process ahead to remove Governor Adhikari.
