Bidhya Bhattarai files candidacy for deputy speaker from UML

KATHMANDU: Bidhya Bhattarai has filed her candidacy for the post of deputy speaker from the CPN-UML.

Though the UML had earlier decided to support Chanda Chaudhary of the Democratic Socialist Party (DSP) for the post of deputy speaker, it fielded its own candidate at the end.

It has been learnt that the UML fielded its own candidate after the DSP decided to stand in favour of the ruling coalition.

Lawmaker Bhattarai won the election from Kaski.

The election for the post of deputy speaker will be held at 3 pm tomorrow.
