2 killed, 31 injured in Sankhuwasabha tractor accident

SANKHUWASABHA : Two persons died and 31 others sustained injuries in a tractor accident at Dumkata in Chainpur Municipality-10 of Sankhuwasabha district on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Ganga Bahadur Tamang ( 24) of Chainpur-10 and Keshab Karki (46) of Chainpur-9, said Police Inspector Saroj Khanal of Sankhuwasabha.

The injured have been receiving treatment at the Manakamana Community Hospital Tumlingtar and the District Hospital Sankhuwasabha, police said.

The tractor (Ko 2 Ta 3931) was carrying as many as 44 people who were retuning home after attending a death ritual when the incident took place.

Police said that they have taken the tractor driver Mohan Kumar Tamang (34) of Chainpur-10 under custody.

Further details of the accident are awaited, police said.
