Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma resigns

KATHMANDU: Bowing to the pressure from the leaders of various political parties and civil society, Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma resigned from his post on Wednesday.

Sharma said that he announced his resignation to pave the way for the parliamentary committee to carry out an investigation against him.

He announced his resignation while addressing the Parliament meeting today.

The main opposition CPN-UML had boycotted his address.

Sharma thanked the Civil Society who demanded his resignation but said that he had not committed any mistake.

He was accused of involving two unauthorised persons in the budget-making process.
