Floods sweep away diversion in Nawalpur, East-West Highway obstructed

NAWALPARASI: The Nawalparasi road section along the East-West Highway has been obstructed due to the floods triggered by torrential rainfall.

Police said that the floods washed away three out of five diversions constructed in the Arunkhola Dumkibas road of Nawalpur, Nawalparasi East.

The diversion was constructed at the bridge construction site under the Narayangarh-Butwal road expansion project.

Information Officer Jayaram Onta of Nawalpur said that vehicular movement along the highway has been obstructed and hundreds of passengers have been stranded mid-way.

It has been learnt that it was impossible to repair the diversion immediately as the rain has not stopped yet.
