CAAN decides not to allow domestic flights to operate in bad weather
KATHMANDU: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has decided not to allow domestic flights to operate in bad weather.
The authority made the decision following the Tara Air plane crash in Mustang two days ago.
“From now on, we have decided not to allow flights unless the en-route weather is clear”, said CAAN Spokesperson Dev Chandra Lal Karna.
So far, the authority had allowed the flights to take off if the weather conditions at the source and destination airports were good.
But from now on, the en-route weather clarity has been made mandatory to operate the flights.
The en-route phase of flight is a specific route that an aircraft takes while in the air.
