Former APF DIG Ranjan Koirala nabbed
KATHMANDU: Police have arrested former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Armed Police Force (APF) Ranjan Koirala on Friday, a day after the Supreme Court overturned its earlier decision.
A team deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office apprehended Koirala from Baneshwor of Kathmandu.
The Supreme Court on Thursday overturned its previous decision and upheld the high court’s decision to send him to life in prison and confiscate his property.
He was released on July 23, 2020 after the apex court reduced Koirala’s sentence from life imprisonment to eight and a half years for murdering his wife Gita Dhakal in February 2012.
The Kathmandu District Court and Patan High Court sentenced him to life in prison with confiscation of property for murdering his wife.
