Independent candidate Harka Raj Rai wins mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City

SUNSARI: Independent candidate Harka Raj Rai has been elected as the mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City.

He won with 20,821 votes while his closest contender Kishor Rai of Nepali Congress (NC) received 16,051 votes.

Similarly, CPN (Maoist Centre) candidate Indra Bikram Begha was elected the deputy mayor after defeating his closest contender Padam Limbu of CPN-UML.

Begha garnered 20,510 votes in his favour while Limbu received 17,606 votes.
