Former lawmaker among five NC members suspended for supporting Jagannath Paudel

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress has suspended five persons including a former lawmaker for supporting independent candidate Jagannath Paudel in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chitwan.

The NC has suspended former party lawmaker Bhim Bahadur Shrestha, former central member of Nepal Tarun Dal, former district secretary of Tarun Dal Ananda Raj Raut, party regional representative Surya Basnet and active member Keshav Paudel.

Issuing a statement on Thursday, Acting Chief Secretary of party central office said that they were suspended for carrying out activities against the party’s norms and values.

CPN (Maoist Centre) leader and party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s daughter Renu Dahal is the mayoral candidate from the five-party alliance in Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

Former lawmaker Jagannath Paudel has filed an independent candidacy against Dahal.
