Hoax bomb call forces Kathmandu airport to close briefly (With photos)

KATHMANDU: A hoax bomb call forced the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), the only international airport, in Kathmandu to close briefly on Wednesday.

The call created panic among the people at the airport this morning after the airport officials received a call from an unidentified person claiming that there were suspicious objects in the domestic terminal of the airport.

The flights were halted for an hour and the passengers were evacuated from the main gate of the airport following the call.

Though Nepal Army and Nepal Police personnel conducted a search operation, they did not find any suspicious objects.

The situation is currently under control and the domestic flights have resumed at the airport.
