Massive fire destroys more than 70 houses in Kailali

SUDURPASCHIM: A massive fire that broke out at Bipatpur Village in Kailari Rural Municipality-7, Kailali district reduced more than 70 houses to ashes on Sunday.

The local administration said that more than 70 houses in the village mostly populated by the freed bonded labourers were destroyed in the fire.

According to the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kailali Kiran Thapa, most of the houses in the village were made up of locally available materials.

The fire was doused with the help of  fire engines and security personnel, said CDO Thapa.

The reason behind the fire and the exact details of the damages are yet to be ascertained.

Police are further investigating the case.
