2 killed, 7 injured in Sagarmatha Oxygen Plant explosion in Lalitpur
LALITPUR: At least two persons died and seven others sustained injuries when an explosion took place in Sagarmatha Oxygen Plant in Lalitpur on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Brij Mahato (45) and Rajkumar Mahato (25) of West Champaran in India, Siddhi Bikram Shah of India, Spokesperson at Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, said.
The explosion took place in Sagarmatha Oxygen Plant while the workers were refilling the gas in a cylinder at around 10 am this morning. The Sagarmatha Oxygen Plant is located in Patan Industrial Area.
The deceased Brij Mahato died on the spot while Rajkumar Mahato, who was critically injured in the blast, died during the course of treatment, said Spokesperson Shah.
Police said that the injured have returned to their homes after receiving treatment at B&B and Patan hospitals.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has directed an investigation into the incident.
