Ruling coalition to make common criteria of candidates, directs Province Coordination Committee to submit report by Saturday

KATHMANDU: The ruling five-party alliance has decided to make a common criteria to choose candidates for the upcoming local level elections.

A meeting of the Local Election Preparation and Monitoring Committee held on Wednesday decided to make a minimum criteria to select common candidates even though the parties have their own method to choose the candidates.

The meeting has directed the Province Coordination Committee to submit a report on  the situation of alliance at the local levels, basis of electoral alliance and other various issues at the earliest.

Committee Coordinator Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel said that the Province Coordination Committee has to submit the report by Saturday.

Discussions on the leadership of metropolitan cities among other issues will be held only after the committee submits the report, he said.
