Govt hikes long-route public transport fares by 10 percent (With list)
KATHMANDU: The government has increased the fares of long-route public vehicles by 10 percent on Sunday.
The Department of Transport Management has increased the fares by 10 percent while maintaining the automatic fare rate.
According to the Department, the fares of freight vehicles have been increased by 13 percent in the hilly region and 15 percent in the Tarai region.
Earlier on Thursday, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, making a ministerial-level decision, had decided to maintain the automatic fare rate.
The decision to increase the fares of long-route transport vehicles has been made keeping in view the rising price of petroleum products, said Department Spokesperson Loknath Bhusal.
