Oli urges Chinese FM Wang to take projects under BRI ahead
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli urged Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to take ahead the road, rail, education and health projects under the Belt and Road Initiative concept.
Oli urged the Chinese Foreign Minister during a meeting held at Hotel Marriott in Naxal, Kathmandu on Sunday.
According to UML Publicity Department head Rajan Bhattarai, former Prime Minister Oli also urged Minister Wang to create a conducive environment for the Nepali students studying in various Chinese universities affected by Covid-19 to return easily.
During the meeting, Oli thanked the government of China for its assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He also urged the Chinese Minister to operate Tatopani and Rasuwagadhi checkpoints in a regular way.
Taking the request of Oli in a positive way, Minister Wang said that they are ready to offer assistance for the development of Nepal.
Minister Wang expressed his commitment that the Chinese government will take ahead the projects under the BRI.
UML Vice-Chairman Ishwor Pokharel and General Secretary Shankar Pokharel among other leaders were also present in the meeting.
