Fire engulfs property worth Rs 6 million in Chitwan

CHITWAN: Property worth around Rs 6 million has been destroyed in a fire that broke out at the store room of local Madhav Lamichhane at Khairhani in Madi Municipality, Chitwan on Friday.

DSP Narahari Adhikari of the District Police Office, Chitwan, the fire destroyed 70 quintals of paddy, five quintals of mustard, two quintals of wheat, 35 quintals (70 bags) of chicken grains, one fridge, one TV set, one digital machine, three solar panels, three batteries, one inverter, gear oil and hydraulic pipes among others.

Similarly, 1,200 chickens and 1,000 chicks were also charred to death, DSP Adhikari said. The incident occurred at around 4: 30 am today, he said.

The fire was later taken under control with the help of locals and police backed by fire engines.

Police said that the reason behind the fire is yet to be established.
