Nepal urges PM Deuba not to sign agreement with Oli in haste

KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Nepal urged Prime Minister Sher Bahadur not to sign an agreement with CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli in the name of endorsing the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

Hinting at the discussions being held with UML Chairman Oli, Nepal urged PM Deuba not to sign the agreement with Oli to ratify the $500 million grant compact.

Talking to journalists outside the Parliament building, Chairman Nepal said that it is unfortunate to float a condition to remove Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota and 14 lawmakers in return to extend support to the government to pass the MCC.

He said that they would stand against the MCC until some of the provisions of the compact are amended.
