Dahal’s secretariat accuses Oli of being irresponsible in MCC
KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushap Kamal Dahal’s private secretariat accused CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli of being irresponsible in the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
“Our party Chairman Dahal and UML Chairman Oli held a telephone conversation on Thursday evening,” Dahal’s private secretariat said, adding, “Dahal said that MCC is no longer just a project of financial assistance, it has now become an issue of national politics.”
“Let’s rise above the mentality of the ruling and the opposition party and discuss the MCC,” the secretariat said. “Dahal urged Oli to clear the party’s position on the MCC and let’s try to forge national consensus. Local elections are just around the corner and the parties have differing views on the MCC. So, let’s talk about the MCC compact only after the local polls,” the secretariat added.
“But Oli did not take the issue seriously. Instead, he said that as you have a majority in the Parliament, you can pass the compact easily,” the secretariat said.
Oli, however, said that they would not let the House proceed with its business until the Speaker took action against 14 lawmakers expelled by his party, the secretariat further said.
