Electoral alliance will not be beneficial for any of the parties: Koirala

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Shekhar told CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal that the electoral alliance would not be beneficial for the parties.

During a meeting held at Dahal’s residence in Khumaltar on Thursday, Koirala claimed that the communist will not vote for the congress in the elections.

The duo discussed for almost one hour on contemporary political issues like forging electoral alliance and Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) among others.

“Let’s not talk about forging alliances in the local elections. Communist will not vote for congress even in the central elections. Electoral alliance will not be beneficial for any of us,” Koirala told Dahal.

On the occasion, Dahal proposed that it would be appropriate to have cooperation among the five-party alliance in all three tiers of elections.

Saying that almost all the leaders are not in favour of forging electoral alliance, Koirala said that political cooperation and electoral alliance are two different things.

They also talked about the MCC in the meeting.

Koirala said that it would be appropriate if the Speaker tables the MCC by clearing the House obstructions.

Dahal said that they are trying to forge a common ground on the MCC compact.

Earlier on Tuesday, Koirala had held a meeting with the main opposition CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli.
