Gokarneshwor Municipality to reopen schools from Sunday

KATHMANDU: The Gokarneshwor Municipality of Kathmandu has decided to allow schools to resume in-person classes from Sunday.

The community and institutionalised schools resume the in-person classes from February 6 by following health safety protocols and social distancing.

The local administration had decided to close the schools till the second week of February in view of the rising cases of Covid-19.

Saying that the new cases have been declining over the week and almost all the students have been vaccinated, the Gokarneshwor Municipality has decided to reopen the schools from Sunday.

A meeting of the Education Committee held on Wednesday decided to reopen the schools, Under Secretary at the Education, Youth and Sports Branch of the Municipality Bijay Prasad Acharya said.

The Municipality will monitor whether the schools are following the health safety measures.
