Ruling coalition positive towards holding local level elections on time
KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition is positive towards holding the local level elections.
During a meeting of the ruling coalition held at Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Saturday, leaders discussed holding the local level elections before the Parliamentary elections.
Prime Minister Deuba, who is also the President of the Nepali Congress, is in intense pressure as his party’s leaders are for holding the local elections on time.
Saying that the delaying or postponing the local level elections would be against the Constitution, the leaders have been saying that the Nepali Congress should not go against the Constitution.
The meeting has decided to take CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal into confidence to hold the local level elections.
Ruling coalition leaders said that the next meeting to be held this afternoon would decide whether to hold the local elections on time or not.
