2 killed, 1 injured in Illam road accident

MANGALBARE: Two persons were killed and another sustained injuries when a jeep they were travelling in met with an accident at Ilam on Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Ramesh Thapa (55) and Surya Bahadur Thapa (40) of Mechinagar municipality-4, said Information Officer at the District Police Office, Ganga Bahadur Thapa.

The incident occurred when a jeep (Province1-01-001 Cha 7916) heading towards Ilam from Jhapa fell some 500 meters off the road at Rong rural municipality-4 along Mechi highway this morning. Both of them died on the spot in the accident.

The jeep driver Arjun Koirala (33) of Mechinagar-4 was critically injured during the incident.

He has been taken to B&C Hospital, Jhapa, for treatment.

Further investigation into the case is underway, police said. RSS
