Govt to administer additional doses of Covid-19 vaccine from third week of January
KATHMANDU: The government has decided to administer an extended dose of the Covid-19 vaccine from third week of January.
Dr Roshan Pokharel, Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population, said that doctors, health workers and security personnel deployed on the front line will be administered vaccine against Covid-19 from third week of January and people above 60 years of age and with low immunity will be administered from the last week of January.
He said that the government has decided to administer the additional dose in view of the possible third wave of Covid-19.
The Health Ministry has decided to administer extra dose at the recommendation of the Covid-19 Vaccine Advisory Committee.
Though the government had decided to administer the additional dose of Covid-19 vaccine to the people with low immunity and suffering from chronic diseases from January 3, it postponed the plan for an indefinite period of time for some reasons.
