Minister Paudel warns of scrapping license of KMC if found charging extra fees from students (With video)
KATHMANDU: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Paudel has warned of scrapping the license of the Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) if it is found charging additional fees from the students.
Minister Paudel had reached the Kathmandu Medical College in Duwakot, Bhaktapur this morning at a time when the students have been continuing their protests accusing the college of charging more fees than the amount fixed by the government.
“I came here after the Ministry received several complaints that the college has been charging extra fees from the students,” he told the principal of the college Ratindranath Shrestha. The principal, however, claimed that the college has not been charging more fees from the students.
“We have not been charging additional fees from the students. There is an error in the Act of the Medical Education Commission,” Principal Shrestha said.
The students of the Kathmandu Medical College have been staging demonstrations for the past few days in the Capital accusing the college of piling pressure on them to pay extra fees.
