Biratnagar station manager of Saurya Airlines arrested after Rs 5 million undeclared money found in TIA

KATHMANDU: Police on Sunday arrested a manager of Saurya Airlines at Biratnagar station after Rs 5 million cash without legal source was found hidden inside a cartoon of noodles at the premises of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).  

Manager Prakash Poudel was arrested today and is being brought to Kathmandu for investigation, according to a source from airport security.

Earlier on Saturday, a total of Rs 5 million undeclared money was found in TIA hidden inside a cartoon of noodles which was brought from Biratnagar through a plane of Saurya Airlines.  

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Surendra Prasad Mainali, an employee of Saurya Airlines Rekha Shakya Pokhrel, who came to receive the money, was arrested on Saturday.

 Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Pokhrel and recovered the money.

According to police, manager Poudel was arrested on the basis of Pokhrel’s statement.

Police have sent Pokhrel with the recovered money to the Department of Revenue Investigation in Lalitpur for further investigation.
