Pfizer vaccination drive halted due to shortage of syringes

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to postpone its plan to vaccinate children aged between 12 and 17 years with the Pfizer vaccine due to shortage of syringes.

The Health Ministry said that the vaccination drive has been halted for an indefinite period due to shortage of syringes.

The government had decided to inoculate the children of eight districts including Kathmandu with the Pfizer vaccine from Friday.

National vaccination programme coordinator Sagar Dahal, however, said that the Vero Cell, AstraZeneca, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson  vaccination drive will continue.

Nepal received more than 600, 000 Pfizer vaccine through COVAX on Friday.
