2 killed in separate road accidents in Sarlahi

MALANGAWA:  Two persons have died in separate road accidents in Sarlahi on Saturday. 

A woman died when a bicycle knocked her down while crossing the road at Laxmipur of Haripur municipality-6 along the Malangawa-Nawalpur road section.

The deceased has been identified as Saiful Khatun (55).

Critically injured Khatun breathed her last during the course of treatment in Janakpur hospital at around 9:30 pm yesterday, police said.

Police are further investigating the case by taking the bicyclist under custody.

Similarly, a person died when a motorcycle he was riding on was hit by a vehicle at Banket forest along the East-West highway.

The deceased has been identified as Bhim Bahadur Gurung (57) of Lalbandi municipality-7.

The incident occurred when a motorcycle (Na 34 Pa 7021) with a 57-year-old pillion passenger was hit by a vehicle last night,  Madhav Prasad Budhathoki, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Spokesperson at the Sarlahi District Police Office, said.

Gurung, who was a pillion rider of the motorcycle, was critically injured during the incident.

He was rushed to the District Hospital Malangawa for treatment soon after the accident but the doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police are further investigating the case.
