One more person tested positive for Omicron variant of coronavirus in Nepal
KATHMANDU: One more person has been tested positive for the Omicron variant of coronavirus in Nepal on Wednesday.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the South African strain has been confirmed in a 98-year-old man.
Dr Sangita Mishra, spokesperson at the Ministry, said that he is staying in home isolation at present.
Three persons have been found infected with the new variant of the Covid-19 so far in Nepal. Earlier, two persons were detected with the omicron coronavirus variant.
The Omicron variant has been spreading at an alarming rate in the world.
First identified in South Africa, the Omicron variant has spread to more than 100 countries so far, including neighboring India.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that the new variant, Omicron, could spread rapidly and cause serious infection.
