Swiss envoy, Province 1 CM flout Covid-19 protocol
ITAHARI : Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Elisabeth Von Capellar and Chief Minister of Province 1 Rajendra Rai held a meeting at the latter’s office in Biratnagar on Thursday.
During the meeting, ambassador Capeller and CM Rai are spotted without masks as seen in the picture released by the press advisor of the CM.
Other people, who attended the meeting, are also seen without the masks. Ambassador Capeller is seen holding a mask in her left hand while CM Rai is standing without a mask.
On the occasion, ambassador Capeller and CM Rai discussed issues of Swiss aided projects and about the naming of Province 1, Bandhu Pokharel, press advisor to the CM Rai said.
”It is common for Nepali public and politicians to flout Covid-19 protocol like walking in the public places without wearing masks and maintaining social distance ”, said Raju KC, Chair of Civil Society, Itahari. He added, ”Now, I am surprised to see the Swiss ambassador attending the meeting without wearing the mask at a time when the Omicron coronavirus variant is spreading at an alarming rate”
