1 killed, 7 injured in Jhapa bus-van collison

JHAPA: A person died and seven others sustained injures when a bus collided head-on with a van at Triveni chowk of Barhadashi Rural Municipality-3 in Jhapa on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as the van driver Pramodchandra Uprety(34) of Baradashi Rural Municipality-1, Jhapa, according to District Police Office (DPO), Jhapa.

The incident took place when a bus (Pra 1-01-001-Kha 3524) collided head-on with a van (Me 1 Cha 2226) at Triveni chowk this morning.

Critically injured van driver Uprety was rushed to the hospital but breathed his last during the course of treatment, police said.

Similarly, Kimari Niraula(55), Gita Ghimire(21), Ranjita Niraula, Durga Ghimire of Baadashi Rural Municipality-1 and Bishal Poudel(12) of Kachanakawal Rural Municipality-1 were injured in the incident, Basanta Pathak, Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Jhapa, said.

The injured are receiving treatment at B and C Hospital of Birtamod, police said.

Further investigation into the case is underway, police said. RSS
