Newly wed couple among four killed in Baitadi jeep accident

KAILALI: Four persons including a newly wed couple died when a jeep they were traveling in met with an accident in Baitadi on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Manisha BK (20) of Kailpal, Patan-7, her husband Prem Chunara (24) of Sunarya-4, Binod Bhattarai (13) and Rama Bhattarai (72) of Sakar, Patan Municipality-1, Inspector Rajesh Shahi of the Area Police Office, Patan said.

The incident occurred when the ill-fated jeep (Se 1 Ja 888) heading towards Kailpal, Patan Municipality-7 from Patan Bazaar skidded off the road and fell some 20 metres down, he said.

Manisha and Prem were the newly wed couple.

Janaki Bhattarai (40), Bishnu Bhattarai (38), Mandhoj Bhattarai (66), Deepak Bhattarai (10), Om Prakash Bhattarai (28) and Govinda BK (40) of Patan-1 were injured in the incident.

Inspector Shahi said that Janaki Bhattarai has been referred to Dadeldhura for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the incident.
