NRNA 10th general convention to be held on December 26-27
KATHMANDU: The 10th general convention of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on December 26-27.
Issuing a notice on Tuesday, the Election Committee of the NRNA made public the new convention date today. Earlier, the NRNA was planning to hold the convention on December 15.
The convention was halted after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs directed the NRNA not to take ahead the election process.
But, Chairman Kumar Panta moved the Patan High Court challenging the order of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The High Court on Sunday issued an order directing the NRNA not to implement the order of the Ministry.
The association decided to take ahead the election process following the order of the court.
According to the Election Committee, the convention will be held on the stipulated date.
Badri KC, Rabina Thapa and Kul Acharya have announced their candidacy for the post of chairman in the convention.
Around 100 people have announced their candidacy for the post of 48 office bearers.
As many as 3500 representatives have already been selected from 64 countries for the election of the association.
