UML to expand office bearers and Central Committee

KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML has decided to increase the number of office bearers and members of its Central Committee.

A Central Committee meeting held in Sauraha, Chitwan on Friday night made the decision to this effect.

The party has decided to increase the number of office bearers and members of its Central Committee for the unanimous leadership.

The party has decided to increase the size of the Central Committee from 225 to 301 and it has also decided to form a 99-member politburo.

The 44-member Standing Committee will remain unchanged. The number of office bearers has been increased as per the proposal of party Chairman KP Sharma Oli. Hence, the total number of office bearers has reached 19.

Similarly, the Secretariat will have 19 members. Earlier, the Secretariat had five members.

As per the decision of the meeting, there will be a 301-member Advisory Council. Meanwhile, Chairman Oli’s proposal for party unity has been unanimously passed by the Central Committee meeting.

The statute amendment proposal will be tabled in the closed session of the general convention that will start today as per the decision of the Central Committee, said Secretary and spokesperson of the party Pradeep Gyawali.
