10 arrested with 33 litres of red sandalwood oil from Tilganga

KATHMANDU: Police on Thursday arrested 10 persons in possession of 33 litres of red sandalwood oil from Tilganga, Kathmandu.

The detainees have been identified as Home Kumar Shrestha (50) of Harihar Rural Municipality-4, Sindhuli, currently residing at Baniyatar, Kathmandu, Mangal Singh Loh (39) aka Nabin of Gadhi Rural Municipality-1, Makwanpur, currently residing at Sanugaun, Lalitpur, Ikram Shrestha (37) of Tokha Municipality-4, Kathmandu, Karsang Lama (31) of Banepa Municipality-4, Kavre, currently living at Duwakot, Bhaktapur, Ghanshyam Ale Magar (23) of Halesi Municipality-6, Khotang, currently living at Maharjgunj, Kathmandu, Madan Pandey (51) of Tilganga Kathmandu Metropolitan City-8, Kathmandu, Jeevan Thapa (20) of Halesi Municipality-9, Khotang, presently residing at Chabahil, Kathmandu, Sudeep Thadarai (25) of Bhanu Municipality-6, Tanahun, currently living at Samakhusi, Kathmandu, Anil Charan Shrestha (53) of Chhauni-13, Kathmandu and Anup Kumar Shrestha (51) of Chhauni-13, Kathmandu.

Acting on a tip-off, a team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD) nabbed them while they were making a deal with the customers to sell the oil at Rs 500,000 per litre, police said.

The trading of red sandalwood and its products is prohibited in Nepal.
