SC full court decides to implement lottery system to assign cases from December 1

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has decided to implement the decision to assign cases through a lottery system from December 1.

A full court meeting of the Supreme Court held on Thursday made the decision to this effect.

The full court meeting decided to assign the cases through the lottery system from December 1 after a regulation to prepare the cause list on the basis of the lottery system was published in the Nepal Gazette on Monday.

Nineteen justices return to the benches after Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana decided to assign cases through the lottery system.

Justices of the Supreme Court have been boycotting the benches expressing solidarity to the protest of Nepal Bar Association which has been demanding resignation of the Chief Justice for the past one month.

Though the justices return to the benches after the Supreme Court decided to assign cases through lottery system, Nepal Bar Association has not withdrawn their protest programmes yet.
