Dissident justices decide to implement lottery system to assign cases from December 1
KATHMANDU: A full court meeting of the justices of the Supreme Court has decided to assign cases through a lottery system in the apex court from December 1.
Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana, however, was not present in the meeting.
Earlier on November 18, a full court meeting had decided to amend the regulation to assign cases through a lottery system.
According to the recent decision, the case management committee will assign cases in the Supreme Court not only to the Chief Justice.

As of now, the Chief Justice has been assigning cases based on the cause list provided by the case management committee.
Chief Justice Rana, however, will chair the committee.
A justice, who attended the meeting, said that the full court of the Supreme Court will be held at 2 pm tomorrow.
