Over 1,500 security personnel to be mobilised for UML general convention
KATHMANDU: With the 10th general convention of CPN-UML round the corner, efforts are on to ensure effective security to the programme, especially on inaugural and closing sessions.
More than 1,500 security personnel will be mobilised in the inaugural and closing sessions of the general convention. The convention will be held in Chitwan from November 26 to 28. The inaugural, however, will be held on the bank of Narayani River.
In view of the inaugural, security situation has been beefed up at Nawalparasi Susta Purba and Chitwan districts. The security chiefs in the districts informed that additional security personnel were demanded for the general convention. The security agencies in both districts are working in cooperation and coordination to this regard.
Major spots such as Gaidakot and Chitwan will have security personnel from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Department.
SP Prakash Malla of the District Police Office, Nawalparasi said that they have demanded additional security force for the UML’s National Congress.
The vehicles coming from the west will be stopped at Gaidakot and asked for parking on the bank of Narayani River.
Similarly, Chief District Officer Ashman Tamang of Chitwan said that a discussion was held even with UML office bearers in the districts to manage security situation and traffic arrangement.
The closing session of the general convention will be held at Seven Star Hotel, Sauraha, Chitwan.RSS
