Over 50,000 marijuana plants destroyed in Siraha

SIRAHA : Police on Sunday destroyed over 50,000 marijuana plants cultivated illegally in different places of Siraha district.

A joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, destroyed more than 50,000 marijuana plants cultivated in around 10 bigha land of ward 7, 8 and 9 of Mirchaiya Municipality and ward 7, 8 and 10 of Golbazar Municipality.

Police destroyed the marijuana plants under the clean-up campaign of illegal marijuana farming, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) who is also the Information officer at District Police Office, Siraha, said.

Police said that the farmers in the vicinity have been illegally cultivating marijuana by planting sugarcane and some other vegetables around it.
