Five held with fake currency notes
KATHMANDU: Police have arrested five persons in possession of fake currency notes worth Rs 65,335 from Kapan on Wednesday.
Police identified the arrestees as Goma Shrestha (56) and Pushpa Thapamagar (41) of Indrawati Rural Municipality-8, Sindhupalchowk, Chiranjibi Jyoti (19) and Sujan Joti (23)of Helambu Rural Municipality-2, Sindhupalchowk and Samraj Thapa Magar (26) of Siruwari Rural Municipality, Ramechhap-2.
A team deployed from Metropolitan Police Circle, Boudha caught them red-handed while printing fake currency notes at the rented room of Samaraj Thapamagar in Budhanilakantha Municipality-11, Kapan last night.
According to SP Ramesh Kumar Basnet, spokesperson at the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, Shrestha was apprehended while she was purchasing goods with the fake currency notes at Gokarneswor Municipality-7, Daksindhoka. Based on her information, the police team arrested four others later.
Police have also confiscated a color printer, papers, a paper cutter, a mobile phone and other devices from the room.
