Chinese nationals stage protest demanding to be allowed to go home (With photos)

KATHMANDU: Chinese nationals, stuck in Nepal due to Covid-19 pandemic, staged a demonstration outside the Chinese Embassy demanding that they be allowed to return home at the earliest.

They staged the demonstration carrying a placard that read: “I want to go back to China.”

Talking to Nepal Press over phone, the Chinese Embassy spokesperson said that the embassy is making efforts to allow them to return to China.

“We are aware of their demands. They are struck in Nepal due to the pandemic. They have no reasons other than that,” the spokesperson said.

“We are staying at a hotel at present. We are left without work for more than five months. We need Rs 2,500 daily for the hotel and to buy groceries,” a Chinese national, who was taking part in the demonstration said, adding, “There are around 1,500 to 2,000 people who are desperately waiting to go to China,” he said.
