1 killed, 2 injured in Surkhet road accident

KARNALI: One person died and two others sustained injuries after a rickshaw they were travelling in met with an accident at Girighat of Surkhet on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Jamara Shahi (44) of Birendranagar-1, Surkhet.

According to the Karnali Police, the rickshaw driver had lost control all of a sudden and hit the road culvert this morning.

Shahi died while undergoing treatment at Karnali Care Hospital, Madhav Prasad Shrestha, Spokesperson at the Karnali Province Police, said.

Laxmi Bahadur Shahi (53) and Jagat Shahi (20) of Birendranagar Municipality were injured in the incident but have returned home after receiving treatment.

Rickshaw driver Ramesh Shahi (24) of Birendranagar-1, Surkhet has been arrested and necessary investigation is underway, police said.
