China provides additional 1.6 mln doses of Vero Cell vaccines to Nepal

KATHMANDU: The government of China has provided an additional 1.6 million doses of Vero Cell vaccines to Nepal on Wednesday.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi handed over the vaccines to Health Minister Birodh Khatiwada amidst a programme organised in the Ministry of Health and Population today.

According to the Ambassador, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army will provide additional 3 million doses of Vero Cell vaccines and medical supplies to the Nepal Army.

China has provided a total of 3.4 million doses of Vero Cell vaccines in grant assistance to Nepal so far.

The government of Nepal has purchased 5.9 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines through the Covax cost-share option. Of them, Nepal has already received 1.02 million doses of vaccines.
