More than 1 million Vero Cell vaccines arrive in Nepal

KATHMANDU: An additional 1.02 million doses of the Vero Cell vaccine have arrived in Nepal on Wednesday.

The vaccines were brought on a cargo of China Southern Airlines to Tribhuvan International Airport(TIA) of this morning.

Department’s Director-General Dr Deependra Raman Singh said the vaccines have been stored in the Teku-based cold room.

The government had made a cost-sharing agreement with the COVAX facility for 5.9 million doses of vaccines against COVID-19.

Nepal has already received a total of 1.2 million doses of Vero Cell vaccine from China through grants, assistance and purchase.
