Eight missing trekkers found in a village of Mustang two days later
successfully escaped an avalanche
KATHMANDU: A team of eight people, including an Italian citizen, who had been without contact for two days, came in contact with the media on Saturday.
The team of the Italian hiker and his camping team from the Royal Mountain Trek agency had lost contact from Dolpa’s chaharkabot while they were heading to Jomsom from Shey Poksundo of Dolpa.
According to Suresh Kumar Shrestha, Managing Director of the agency, they came in contact two days later after an avalanche took place while moving forward to their destination.
Shrestha told that Italian citizen Gino Cattini and the camping team reached Santa village of Mustang after they escaped from the avalanche with the help of ropes.
After being out of contact for two days, the trekking agency had tried to send a helicopter on Saturday, but the helicopter could not go as the Home Ministry was late in giving permission.
They are currently heading towards Jomsom by passing five or six mountains which are about 5500 meters high.
